Care Instructions

All of the findings in MYTH's collection are a multimedia mix of Brass, Acrylic, Gold Plated and Gold Filled metals. This means the wire, jump rings, earring hooks, etc.  Please see item descriptions for a detailed list of all materials used per item, since they vary.

Gold Filled means the item has the most amount of gold next to solid gold jewelry. It won’t tarnish and it’s much more durable than gold plated jewelry.

To make some of my pieces more affordable, I've added items using Gold Plated components. Gold Plated jewelry is more susceptible to tarnishing, but I thoroughly test all of my components for quality control. Regardless of Gold Plated, Gold filled, or even Solid Gold jewelry, you should always remove before showering, swimming or sleeping. Water reduces the life span of all metals and you should keep your jewelry as dry as possible.

I also use Brass in several of my pieces, these are the detailed charms and stampings. Brass will tarnish over time but unlike other metals, when the brass tarnishes you can easily polish it at home to make it as shiny and bright as the day you bought it! A small amount of Brasso on a microfiber cloth to gently rub the Brass element will do the job. Rinse with water, pat dry and leave it on a surface to dry before putting it in its container. Just be careful not to scrub the earring hooks or any of the other parts of the earring. A Q tip will also help to make sure you are only polishing the Brass element.

In general remove any dirt or dust with a gentle cloth, try to keep them dry as possible and always store them in a closed container. I sell each pair in a closed zipper pouch so I recommend keeping this to keep your pair away from humidity and dust.
